In order to create a custom audience on Facebook, follow these 10 easy steps.

FYI, Make sure your Facebook Pixel is installed before you start using custom audiences.

  1. Go to Facebook Ad Manager
  2. Go to your Facebook Audiences
  3. In case of existing audiences, click on ‘Create Audience’  drop-down and select ‘Custom Audience’
  4. In case you’re creating an audience for the first time, you’ll see audience creation buttons instead of dropdowns. Click ‘Create a Custom Audience’
  5. Now, choose a Facebook Pixel you’d want to track

For example, if you set your Custom Audience to only include people who’ve reached the “Add to cart” page of your website, it’ll automatically add people who navigate there to be part of your audience.

  1. Set a rule section -If you didn’t set any rules, then your Custom Audience will automatically update to add anyone who visits your website.
  2. When setting rules, start with an inclusive one.
  3. There are standard rules and pixel event rules; Add rules to the desired section (You can have up to 5 total rule sections per audience).
  4. Click ‘Create Audience’ – Keep in mind that it takes 24 hours after you create your Custom Audience from your website for it to start collecting data.
  5. Once done creating your custom audience, select it during new ad set creation to reach the people in it with ads.
